Some things simply aren’t meant to be done at home—and this is one of them. If you don’t believe it, just ask Brandi Glanville. The obsession with DIY remedies, TikTok “hacks,” and magical beauty fixes can lead us to very dark—and very painful—places.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared on TikTok how she ended up with her face completely burned after trying to exfoliate with a hair removal cream. Yes, with Nair. She was trying to combat a facial parasite that’s been bothering her for months, but the result was a dermatological disaster that quickly went viral.
What seemed like a quick fix ended in red blotches, raw skin, and a direct warning to her followers:
“Don’t do it. Seriously, don’t.”
And although she tried to take it with humor, the damage was real—and it even sent her to the hospital.
@brandiglanvilleofficial Beauty hacks (this is a good one but do a test patch)I did 7 minutes and I’m on fire sooooioko don’t to 7 minutes it also burned the loose skin off my arms & its 7 dollars 😎 mix up some aloe vera, cucumber and black tea put it in the freezer put it in the spray bottle and once it’s cold enough spray all day cause I’m in some pain
It All Started With What Seemed Like a “Smart” Idea
In her mind, the idea probably made sense. Brandi explained that exfoliating was only making the facial parasite worse, so she thought she’d try a different approach: applying Nair to her face to remove dead skin without rubbing.
Spoiler alert: it was a terrible idea.
She left the cream on for seven minutes, resulting in a serious chemical burn on her chin, cheeks, nose, and even her arms. In the video, Brandi shows the burns and her visibly damaged face, all while trying to joke with lines like:
“Nair is the fountain of youth. I figured it out.”

Burnt Skin and Six-Figure Medical Bills
Behind the sarcasm, though, was a hard truth: not only was she in pain, but her medical expenses have already exceeded six figures, and she’s out of funds.
Even more worrying is the fact that Brandi had already been hospitalized back in April because of this same parasite, and she still hasn’t found an effective treatment. Her desperation to “try anything” led her to experiment with products designed for other parts of the body—and now she’s dealing with the consequences.
The reality star continues to document her journey on social media—through a mix of sarcasm, pain, and the hope of finding a solution. But what we’ve learned from this story is that sometimes, a cheap fix can end up costing you a lot—and in this case, leaving a permanent mark on your face.
