Fleeting Love I Saw Him Again

There he was, surrounded by people like always, as he sat with the same empty lonely stare. I watched him for a bit from where I stood, hoping the few feet of separation were enough to avoid him noticing my presence. Now that I think about it, I doubt he was concerned about me being there.

It’s strange to think how easily someone can turn you into a stranger, especially after sharing so many nights, laughs, and secrets. Yet, it happens. That’s what he did, anyway. He allowed me into his life for a while. We made each other happy for a couple of months. Then he just decided to forget all about me.

A few days ago I saw him.

He was just as I remembered, unable to hide his fears behind his sunglasses, trying to find acceptance with each step, wanting the world to believe the façade he’s invented for himself.

A few days ago I saw him.

It was then when I finally realized why he was forced to leave my side. Sometimes it takes time to understand people are not forever. That day I just knew it. He’d been there to make me happy for a few days and nothing more.

A few days ago I saw him.

He was holding hands with another woman, similar to the one I’d previously seen with him. Long blond hair, light-colored eyes, and tanned skin. He's only known her for two weeks, but he's already given her his heart. Because that’s what he does, fall quickly for someone who’s not interested, so he never truly falls in love with anyone. Just like me.

I Saw Him Again
