It was like burying my face in the afternoon pillow filled with sunshine.
It was like feeling the comfort induced by the scent mixed with its texture and fiber.
Because of the scent that would relax me right away if I buried my face in it,
I wanted to suddenly hold him.

The euphoria of falling in love is not unlike the sensation of going to a rave in the middle of the desert and taking a load of drugs. It’s exciting, terrifying, maddening, and sensational all at once. When oxytocin floods our brain, we get the feeling similar to standing on the edge of a cliff we can’t wait to jump into, despite what might lie at the bottom. It’s at this point where we don’t worry about the heartbreak that might be waiting for us. All we can think about is being with the object of our lust and affection.
Zipcy is an illustrator that perfectly captures the emotions of the first stages of love. One of the scenes that best portray the desire and obsession that we feel towards the one we love is about scent. By the time that we’ve honed in on the particular perfume of the person that drives us mad with longing, there’s not much that can be done for us. We’ve succumbed to emotions that dictate what we must do to be with our beloved.
The artist has several works of art, both commercial and personal. However, Touch is a series centered around a couple in the throws of passion. Both characters cannot stand being apart and, when together, find it hard to not tear each other’s clothes off.
The scenarios Zipcy creates are full of sensuality and tenderness. They’re all about those moments when we’re discovering who the person we long for is. They describe the situations of being careful and desperate all at once. Our crush is like a birthday present that is gorgeously wrapped. We don’t want to destroy the bow and shiny paper. Yet we can’t wait to see what is inside.
The sexual tension jumps out of the screen in front of us when we take a look at one of her illustrations. We can almost taste the kisses shared by these emboldened protagonists.
The gazes shared between these two lovers is enough to melt our hearts. We’re reminded of when we first met someone who brightened our day simply for existing. We go back to the moment when we couldn’t help but blush when they were around us. We trace the instances when we knew they were close because we’d memorized the sound of their feet growing close.
Through this ongoing series, Zipcy has made us recall the highs and lows of the first stages of a relationship. Perhaps not even that. The first moments of infatuation that can lead to romance, a one-night-stand, or even a seasonal fling. Because at the beginning, all those situations share one thing in common: the quenching longing to be with the object of our desire.
