This Friday, minutes after five in the morning, Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Mexico as a Category 2. Although the first projections pointed to Chetumal as the first place of impact, the phenomenon changed its course in the last few hours near Tulum.

Hurricane Beryl arrives in Tulum
The National Meteorological Service confirmed that the center of Beryl arrived at 5:05 a.m. this Friday in Tulum. At the moment, the phenomenon continues to move over the Yucatan Peninsula very close to Valladolid.

According to forecasts, Beryl will remain with that power on land, but, when it goes out to the Gulf of Mexico, it could regain strength. The first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic continues its course with winds close to 160 kilometers per hour.
In Tulum, Quintana Roo, Hurricane “Beryl” made landfall with wind gusts of up to 215 km/h and rainfall between 150 to 200 mm. No human casualties have been reported, only fallen trees and signs.

After its exit into the Gulf of Mexico, authorities expect Hurricane Beryl to arrive as a Category 1 in Tamaulipas or, if there is a sudden change in trajectory, near South Texas in the area near Brownsville.
