Most of us are naturally drawn to esthetically pleasing images full of detail and color. However, each person can add a particular style and meaning to what they create. Providing our artwork with our own personal trademark can make all the difference in changing the perception of others regarding a particular subject or idea.

Hits with Tits is a collective of female artists from Spain that exhibited a series of illustrations from 40 artists at the Cara B Festival. These works captured all of our favorite artists from a female perspective, yet each features the artist’s personal attitude and style.

From its beginnings, Hits with Tits has fought against artist obscurity, since they present how the work of women is often disregarded in the art world. Through these illustrations they seek to promote the work of creators who have innovated and evolved the contemporary art scene.
“These artists have been on the front lines years, despite the lack of visibility or recognition. For years we’ve heard terms such as low art, usually associated with female creations. Art history has also been a part of this since it’s usually presented through a male perspective.”
Currently there is undercurrent of hostility towards the feminist movement, yet the artists claim to feel they are supported through the response on social media. Their work has also been well-received by the cultural, music, and illustration sectors.
Yet, even with the success of Hits with Tits, there are several women who have yet to receive the recognition they deserve. There is still plenty of work to do in terms of promotion and visibility. This collective is doing its part in showcasing the talent of forgotten artists while proving that artistic talent is genderless.
“The best way to keep fighting is for all of us to raise our voices. To understand that we are stronger when we work together. By opening the conversation, we can succeed in giving a few steps towards change.”
