Is beauty worth pain?
There are several examples in our culture that indicate it is. How many actors have pushed themselves to extremes in order to deliver spectacular performances? How many photographers have defied harsh conditions, even wars, only to capture the beauty and true conditions of this world? How many dancers torture their feet, day and night, only to nail the hardest and most graceful movements that the human body can achieve?
These series of tattoos are further proof that enduring pain can achieve beautiful results. When a tattoo needle punctures our skin, we sometimes lose sight of how much is that pain truly worth. It’s as if we were being drilled to our core. And yet, our ribcage is one of the most aesthetic parts of our body to get a tattoo. The skin that covers it is almost like a canvas that joins our front and back, providing tattoo artists the opportunity to create expansive and dynamic designs.
Are you willing to go through the pain of getting one of these?

Like the blooming flowers on this girl’s side…

In our early years, many of us are not aware of the beauty of the days we’re living. While growing up, we’re frail and innocent. We ignore most of the things that happen in the world. Perhaps that same innocence makes us so beautiful at the time. Perhaps we are like these flowers, unaware of our beauty, and how we grew and bloomed. Looking back at those precious years is something that will always be present in our lives. It reminds us of how graceful we can truly be.
Or these graceful ferns…

A symbol of eternal youth and spiritual health, a fern is a beautiful plant to get on your body. Its subtle patterns give the sense of constant growth and revival, evolving in a movement to eternity.
And this minimalist, geometrical horse…

Nothing is as free as a wild horse. Fierce, noble, they thunder against the winds without being limited by anything or anyone. We were never the masters of horses. Horses are their own masters, they run for their own sake, discovering new landscapes and horizons.
Or would you like a precious hummingbird forever floating on your body?
Hummingbirds are associated with the spirits of the dead who’re visiting the living. Every time we see a hummingbird, it fills our hearts with joy. This bird’s graceful fluttering is a beautiful sight, something that can get our hearts up even in the darkest of times. They remind us that there will always be beauty in the world.
Or how about a precious blue whale whipping its tail all the way to your back?

A whale is a symbol of wisdom and self-knowledge. With their millenary wisdom, keeping them close to us is as if we were hearing an ancient voice reminding us we need to listen to our hearts and be truthful to ourselves. They can be the guardians of our path.
Maybe you can turn your ribcage into a Zen pond, filled with dancing koi fishes…

Koi fishes swimming in circles are associated with the Yin and Yang. They remind us that opposites attract, and that balance can be achieved in life. They too show that we can’t swim upstream forever in life. It’s all a matter of cycles and in the end, what’s important is taking a step back and seeing the harmony in all of these movements.
