One of the best things about reading is picturing fabulous stories in your head, wishing all of those universes and characters were real and that we could interact with them in any type of way. Thankfully, movies have done part of the job and whether they remain true to the book or not, they end up bringing us a visual representation of a lot of those creations and their releases always excite us so much.
In case you need some books to read or you want to know if your favorite book is getting its own movie this year, here are some of the best book adaptations to expect for 2022.
Through my Window by Ariana Godoy
A Wattpad success that has made its readers fall in love with its characters since 2016 and will have its own Netflix movie released on the month of love, February 4th. This story follows Raquel Álvarez (an aspiring psychologist with an intense crush on her neighbor) and Ares Hidalgo (a rich playboy who happens to be Raquel´s neighbor) on a steamy romance journey that begins with a wifi share.
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
An awesome mystery that will take you through an unsolved murder that occurred on a cruise along the Nile. The victim? Linnet Ridgeway, a young, beautiful, elegant girl who’s life seemed absolutely perfect but apparently had quite some enemies behind. The movie will be starring Gal Gadot and released on February 11th in theaters.
Persuasion by Jane Austen
The Queen of romance will get another one of her works turned into a movie. Persuasion is the story of Anne Elliot, a twenty-seven-year-old woman who is engaged to a naval officer called Frederick Wentworth but by force of fate, she ends up canceling her marriage and then regretting that decision. Some time later, both of them meet again and the tension regarding whether they can get back together or not is what captivates the reader till the very end of this story.
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
The classic story of the boy who refuses to grow up is the next one on the Disney live-action series. Although it doesn’t have a release date yet, we do know that the movie will be available on Disney+ this year and it will be called “Peter Pan and Wendy“, starring Alexandar Molony as Peter, Ever Anderson as Wendy, Judge Law as Captain Hook and Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell.
Conversation with friends by Sally Rooney
The author of the TikTok-viral book “Normal People“, will get a movie adaptation on this other novel that talks about difficult relationships that overturn the world of the main character. Frances is a college student who wants to be a writer and ends up being recluted, along with her best friend, by a journalist named Melissa. This event definitely signifies a huge opportunity for Frances´ career but everything will get pretty difficult when she meets Melissa’s husband and a forbidden attraction starts between them.
Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates
A fictional insight on the life of the “blonde bombshell“ Marilyn Monroe, brought to life by Ana de Armas. From her early years to her death, the author creates a great plot line that submerges the reader into a close idea of what the actress’s life looked like regarding marriage, public eye and substance abuse.
The summer I turned Pretty by Jenny Han
We’ve seen the “To all the boys“ trilogy on Netflix and we’ve loved it, now it is the time for the new Amazon series’s adaptation of another Jenny Han’s work. The book is about Belly and her love for summer due to the amazing moments she spends at her beach house. Each season she reunites with Jeremiah and Conrad, two brothers with whom she will be involved in a love triangle and we will get to see how both relationships develop until everything falls into place.
Somo of these are coming very soon and others don’t have a release date yet, but all of them are very exciting and we cannot wait to read all of these books before the movie comes out to see if they meet our expectations or not. Let the reading challenge begin!
