It’s an urban legend that the Kardashians are unable to feel love, or at least that they are unable to really settle with someone if it doesn’t mean business for them. Although far-fetched, fans and netizens are certain that every guy who dares to date them ends up losing it due to what they have called the Kardashian curse.
By the end of last year, rumors about Bad Bunny, Latin America’s favorite musician, dating Kendall Jenner, started to spread rapidly. After some speculation and a couple of paparazzi pics, it seemed obvious that both are hanging out together although none of them have really confirmed nor denied the rumors. Other than a fashion campaign together and more pap photos, we can’t say for sure that Kendall and Benito are an item.
However, many fans are certain that the relationship must be somehow serious mainly due to Bad Bunny’s recent behavior, which many have compared to Kanye West’s downfall. Has Bad Bunny fallen victim to the Kardashian curse?
Bad Bunny’s Change and Possible Downfall
Just last year, Bad Bunny was the king of the world with an album breaking all records and appearing at the top of all the charts. Un verano sin ti was the fan’s favorite all over the globe, and his world tour was a cultural milestone. Although Benito announced he was taking some time for himself after the tour, we have seen him shine on different platforms.
Just recently, he made a historical appearance as host and music guest of SNL, even making great skits in Spanish. This appearance came after the release of his latest album Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana, which didn’t do as well as his past albums, or at least people didn’t really receive it as he expected.
However, what really worried fans was what happened this week. Someone made a song using artificial intelligence with Bad Bunny’s voice that rapidly became a huge success on social media. People started saying that the song was way better than his latest album, and Benito didn’t take this very well.
On his WhatsApp group, Bad Bunny ranted about the song and basically called everyone who liked it “stupid.” He even told his fans that if they thought the song was good they weren’t really his fans and that they should leave him alone and his chat group. People think he’s starting to alienate his fans out of a tantrum. After the whole rant, he simply erased all his content from TikTok.
The Kardashian Curse
After all this and seeing Bad Bunny changing his attitudes towards his fans and making these tantrums, many on social media claim it’s a clear sign he’s fallen into the Kardashian curse, something they assure Kanye West was also a victim and that could explain his erratic behavior in the past years.
According to this theory, the Kardashians are some sort of vampire femme fatales that drain their partners from their energy and push them into madness. The reason behind this would be that they are so influential and have so much power that the men around them end up feeling envious of said influence and trying to compete, or simply assimilating their fame, push them to the edge.
Like Kanye West, this theory claims that these men want to measure their own power with their fans and end up being too pushy and erratic when they don’t receive the attention they expect. Just like Bad Bunny with his new album. However, more than making sense, we should be wondering if this so-called Kardashian curse is real or simply a misogynistic explanation to justify men who can’t deal with their emotions.
The Kardashians Curse Is Pure Misogyny
Yes, most likely there’s something frivolous and calculating behind the Kardashian success; no one can deny that. However, let’s be honest, why would a man’s downfall or mental issues be blamed on any woman?
We all saw the gradual change in Kanye’s behavior through the years, even when people were certain that it was simply a genius trait… not! Many also want to include Caitlyn Kenner in this combo, but although she can be quite controversial regarding her identity and many of her views, thinking she transitioned is related to a curse is quite transphobic.
Regarding Bad Bunny, for me, his sudden bitterness and anger are simply a result of a tantrum of someone who reached the sky rapidly and thought that no matter what he produced his fans would take it happily. In other words, is simply a tantrum of a man who can’t deal with failure.
