Every year, the Pantone Color Institute picks one color that will define every trend in the upcoming year and for 2022 its choice was made to reflect the adaptation we had to go through thanks to the pandemic, new technologies, and a new digital life. Therefore, it chose Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri, a mix of blue with a touch of red. 

According to Pantone, Veri Peri “is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing, and our physical and digital lives have merged in new ways”. 

The color encompasses the qualities of the blues and at the same time some of the violet-red undertones to display “a joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression”. 

The color was chosen by a group of experts that analyzed and researched trends across fashion, products, art, travel, and materials. And in this case, digital live such as Zoom calls, LED lighting, and even the ethereal Metaverse.

As Fast Company noted, the Very Peri reminds us of the colors and hues used in early 2000, those silvery and liquid metallic tones that pointed to an era change. Maybe, this new Pantone is the same. 

Today is possible to spot some of the Very Peri presence in such digital trends like Fornite or more real-life applications like Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring-Summer 2022 show. 

To further embrace the tech theme, Patone partnered with Microsoft to launch Very Peri as a series of wallpapers, PowerPoint palettes, and even a Teams camera filter.
