Unicorns are the most beautiful creatures in the animal kingdom. Also, they don’t exist. But, boy, we wish they did. Thanks to these awesome tattoo artists and their magical designs unicorns can exist. On your skin that is!
@jad_laudanumThe unicorn trend is so on, specially on April 9th, the official Unicorn Day. It’s the day when everything gets really colorful with a blue, pink, and purple colors. If you’re too sane to get a unicorn beverage that tastes horribly, make unicorns happen and hit your local tattoo shop.
@incarnatio.tatoostudioRumor has it this all began when a natural food blogger in Miami began posting photos on her blog that featured those colorful patterns we’ve all seen. Before you knew it, her unicorn toast had officially gone viral.

@mini_tattooerNicki Minaj did her part when she road an inflatable unicorn on her video “Make Love”. Everybody had to have a little bit of this magical animal.

Overall, the unicorn trend is all over the place and it’s something that came to stay. These tattoo artists haven’t made it kitchy so it’s worth a while to take a look at what they have to show.

@y_ta_khong_an_caTattoos about unicorns also work because they symbolize many things. You could argue that the unicorn craze is fairly recent, but unicorns themselves are very old. And, depending on the time and place, they could either be really mean creatures that could pierce your stomach with their horn, or a symbol of independence, or even a symbol of sexuality, uniqueness, and mysticism.
@mattia-fruncillo.tattooerSo what does our current obsession with unicorns tell us about our own culture? We now value unicorns as being something unique, or something very, very rare, almost impossible to find. Like, when you find a guy who isn’t a total jerk (trust me, you won’t) you can call him a “unicorn boyfriend.” Be careful though because, depending on the context, you could also be referring to a bisexual woman who shows interest in getting on with a couple. See? Rare.
No one said, however, that this trend couldn’t just disappear over night. With these amazing tattoos, however, I don’t think its fad is going to last very little.
