Prepare Your Suitcases

1566681110285 marvel black panther 2 sequel confirmed cover - prepare your suitcases, we’re going to wakanda on 2022!Rejoice all Marvel geeks because Disney’s D23 Expo still has more good news for us all!

After an intense week in which we (almost practically confirmed) lost one of our favorite franchises (incident also know as Spider-man’s gate), Disney and Marvel’s executives are giving us at least something to be happy about. Among the many announcements regarding new films for the upcoming years, it has been confirmed that King T’Challa will be back on-screen in Black Panther II (official title still to be announced).

The official release date will be on May 6, 2022. Unlike what had been rumored, the sequel won’t premiere on February, during Black History Month, as it happened with the first one. According to director Ryan Coogler, they will be taking some time to create something as appealing as they did with the first one, so we will have wait patiently for that highly anticipated trip back to the beautiful Wakanda.

Not much has been revealed about the plot or the cast, but it’s almost certain that Chadwick Boseman will be reprising his role as King T’Challa, as well as many of the original cast like Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, and CIA Agent Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). There are also rumors that Michael B. Jordan will be coming back as Killmonger, though that would require a lot of explaining since he died and gave one of the best meme of the last couple of years (“it’s so beautiful”).

As it happens with every single Marvel movie, rumors and theories appear immediately when an announcement is made. In that fashion, it’s also been rumored that Donald Glover could be in talks to join the cast as the villain of the story, though it seems improbable since he’s already in this universe as Miles Morales’ uncle.

Now, there’s confusion whether Black Panther 2 will be part of the MCU’s Phase 4 or 5. What it’s known is it will be released after Thor: Love and Thunder, which sounds also pretty exciting as Natalie Portman will become the next Thor in November 2021.

So, though the waiting may seem really, really (really) long, if the movie ends up being as good as the first one, all the expectation will surely pay off.
