How Much Are Your Old Disney VHS Tapes Worth? A Lot, Apparently!

All those eighties and nineties kids out there might remember how much time it took to set everything up to watch a VHS movie. If you had already seen it, it would take a few minutes to rewind it all, either manually or with those strange devices that were the height of technology at the time. Of course, there’s nothing nostalgic about it, since it’s much better to just click on the film you want on your phone or computer and enjoy it in a matter of seconds. Still, there are some perks about those tedious tapes, and that is the value they’ve acquired today. If you still have some of your childhood Disney tapes, you might have a small fortune gathering dust in a corner of your house.

For some very passionate collectors, there are some Disney tapes valued for upwards of $8,000 USD. Quite a sum, isn’t it? Movies like Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella are among the most expensive in the market, since their price is listed at about $8,400 USD. However, as we said before, don’t get too excited because there are some characteristics that can make a VHS tape cost that fortune or nothing at all.

@niohsavestheworldThere are some requirements Disney VHS tapes have to have. For instance, those high prices are reserved only for “Black Diamond Classic” and “Purple Label” editions. So, if you were one of those lucky kids to get these special editions, and more importantly (and almost impossible) you didn’t take them out of their original package, you might be the proud owner of a fortune. Why these editions in particular? Turns out these had Walt Disney’s signature, which makes them unique collector pieces.

So, now you know. If you have one of these Disney Holy Grails, it’s time to dust them off and get yourself a good amount of money, since what for you might be a great nostalgic memory of your childhood, for some people they’re worth the world.
