
Director Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) was in charge of the project while the screenplay is based on the real-life article that journalist Tom Junod’s wrote for Esquire. Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue adapted it and came up with this story. The movie will follow a sort of Mr. Rogers craze, after the release of documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor, about Fred Rogers in which Junod also appeared.
Who is better to play a children’s idol than Tom Hanks, America’s Dad? I’d like to see what he can do. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is due to arrive in theaters on November 22.
