Life might have caught up to you, or you might not be in the mood to party like it’s 1999 again: whatever your reason is not to be in a party mood, no one’s judging. Even though there seems to be a party aura everywhere on December 31st, maybe this year you don’t want to wake up covered in confetti. Been there, done that. We’ve all had wild New Year’s parties at some point, dancing until the sun comes up, but this year, all you want is something more chill with your S.O. So, here are some date ideas you’ll like if you don’t want to start the year partying.
Watch a show
Just because you’re not going to a New Year’s party doesn’t mean you can’t get all dressed up. Going to the theater is a great excuse to dress up and makes any date feel special. Enjoy the show, drink some champagne, and then you can always go back home to snuggle in your PJs.
Bring the spa to you
Having an in-home spa night might be the most relaxing thing you can do. All you have to do is head to a beauty supply store and stock up on face masks, bath bombs, and lotions. This would also be a great way to pamper your partner: draw them a bath and throw a bath bomb in there. But please don’t try this with someone you just met; they might run out of there before you realize it.
@lushcosmeticsMovie Marathon
Pick a few movies you both love, popcorn, all your favorite snacks and drinks, and ring in the new year with a movie marathon. This is the perfect date for those homebodies who already love to binge watch Netflix series, myself included. Plus, it’s the last time you’ll be able to do it in the year! So, enjoy watching those classic holiday movies.
Warner Bros PictureOrganize A Potluck Dinner
Both you and your S.O. can invite your closest friends over for a potluck dinner before all the parties begin. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your friends and talk about New Year’s resolutions; you might even be able to steal one of theirs. The best part is you’ll end up with plenty of leftovers to enjoy on New Year’s Day.

Go ice skating
Going ice skating can be very romantic, especially right before starting the New Year. If you go early enough, you’ll be able to make it home in time to warm up next to the fireplace while toasting to the New Year.

Whatever it is you decide to do, just make sure you enjoy every moment with this special person in your life. There is more than one way to spend New Year’s: it’s up to you to decide how and with whom you do it. The important thing is that you are comfortable, in good company, and with your favorite drink in hand. Let this night be a preview of all the good things that await in the new year. And don’t forget all the Latin traditions to start the year off on the right foot.
