This past January, Armie Hammer’s name was everywhere for a rather lurid matter. Turns out, the actor of Call Me By Your Name, had been accused of having sent messages to women where he talked openly about cannibalism and his intention to eat them.
Most people first met Hammer when he starred in The Lone Ranger in 2013, but became best known for working alongside Timothée Chalamet in Call Me by Your Name. However, since the beginning of 2021, searching his name is bringing up an adjective that few would surely want to have: Armie Hammer cannibal.
Hammer was also accused of emotional and violent abuse and manipulation. He flew to the Cayman Islands and hadn’t been seen until a couple of weeks ago when he flew back to the US to check-in at a facility in Florida to start a treatment to rehabilitate from the use of alcohol and other substances and his sexual behavior.
According to Vanity Fair, Hammer was accompanied by his wife Elizabth Chambers and their two children. The couple separated some months prior to the scandal but it seems she’s determined to help him get his life back on track. Vanity Fair also claims that Hammer reached Chambers in late May to ask for her help and he was finally checked-in on May 31.
Although neither Hammer nor Chambers have spoken publicly about the situation, a close friend to the actor declared he’s “taking back control of his life and knows that this is a step towards his overall well being.”
Regarding the serious abuse accusation issued by a woman named Effie, the police are already investigating the case, although Hammer’s attorney and his family have claimed he’s innocent. With the news of the actor’s seeking treatment, Effie declared: “while I am glad that Armie is finally getting the help I begged him to get for so long, this does not take away all of the immense pain and suffering he has caused me.”
