How many times have you heard you have to drink water to stay healthy? I bet you have a specific amount in mind, like 8 glasses, for example. Well, it turns out drinking water really is that important, so this article isn’t exactly going to debunk this “myth”, in case you thought that’s what you were going to get. However, there is such a thing as drinking too much water.
Water helps you get energized, flush some waste and have all the nutrients flow through your body, among many other benefits. It’s true that you have heard the 8 glasses rule, haven’t you? Well, this is the part that might get debunked here. There’s no scientific evidence as to exactly how much water everyone should drink. I mean, think about it: one size-fits-all amount of water for all of us?Regardless of our size? Regardless of our weight or specific condition of our health?
@waddi_springsStudies have proven that there is no scientific evidence behind the idea that eight glasses of water a day is some sort of magical number for our health. I don’t know where the idea came from, but I was skeptical from the moment I heard it. I mean, we all get fluids from water-rich foods, such as salads, fruit and, veggies. The more of these you eat, the more hydrated you’ll be.
The real tip here is that drinking water is a personal experience. Just drink as much as you feel or think you need. Open the tap and serve yourself a glass of water if you’re feeling thirsty. If you feel dry, drink water. If you feel dizzy, drink water. Don’t down glass after glass after class because you feel like it’s what you should be doing. Listen to your body, and you’ll be fine.

@tisiminskAlso, remember to eat well. If you are concerned about your water intake, bear in mind that sugary drinks lead to weight gain and inflammation (along with many other risks). You can also get water from coffee, but the caffeine will rattle your sleep cycle, so be wary of that, too. Also, try to limit your alcohol intake, but that’s a given. Just remember that water-rich foods like veggies, salads and fruit also help keep you hydrated.
That being said, the best way to keep hydrated is by drinking plain water. And ultimately, as they say, just trust your gut.
