A Halloween costume that was supposed to be a good laugh became an internet sensation that reached the Queen herself.
A one-year-old little girl who dressed up as Queen Elizabeth for Halloween went viral because of her resemblance to the monarch. Her mother, Katelyn Sutherland, who is based in Kentucky, picked a cross baby blue coat with matching white gloves, a pearl necklace, a wig, and a hat. But the best of the costume were the two corgies Jalayne, the little girl, had side by side.
According to Katelyn who talked to Insider, the idea came after brainstorming on ways to incorporate both doggies in Jalayne’s costume.
“Jalayne absolutely loves her pups. It’s almost like they are a package deal, and we couldn’t think of any better way to portray the friendship between her and her dogs”, said Kate.
After Kate shared the photo of the mini Queen on Facebook, it immediately became an internet sensation thanks to its resemblance to the British monarch. That is when she decided to send the picture in a letter addressed to Queen Elizabeth.
She never expected to receive a letter back, however, it was in early December when an envelope with a royal post appear in her mailbox.

The letter was written by the lady-in-waiting for the Queen, the Honorary Dame Mary Morrison. In it, she explained that the monarch asked her to say thanks for the photo.
“Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her, and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit,” you can read in the letter. It was accompanied by information about Queen’s pets.
