After confirming that the bodies found at the bottom of a water well in Ensenada, Baja California, corresponded to the two Australian brothers and their American friend, the authorities began investigations to find out what the reason for their murder would have been and according to their hypotheses , that’s how it happened. According to the authorities’ assumptions, Jake and Callum Robinson, originally from Australia, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, were on a tour of the beaches of Baja California with the intention of surfing, so they made a stop in Punta San José, when they were heading to Rosarito. While they were in that place, they had the misfortune of running into a group of ill-intentioned men traveling in a van, who, upon seeing them alone, wanted to steal the tires and other parts of the tourists’ vehicle, but when they resisted, they were attacked. with a firearm; This occurred between April 28 and 29.
The Murder of the Three Tourists Occurred due to an Alleged Robbery
When the authorities found the place where the last camp of the three foreign tourists had been, they found blood stains and drag marks as if from “heavy packages”, which led to the assumption that the murder had taken place there and they were later taken to the well where they were found. Prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez explained that according to the evaluations of forensic specialists, the Robinson brothers and their friend resisted the assault and that is why they were attacked. All three had a gunshot wound to the head.
“The attackers took out a gun and first killed the one who was resisting the theft of the vehicle and then the other two arrived and joined the fight to defend their property and his partner who had been attacked and they also killed them,” the prosecutor reported.
Evidence collected by authorities shows that the attackers burned the foreigners’ tents and their truck was driven kilometers away and also burned, in an attempt to destroy any evidence. The alleged robbers’ vehicle was later found with a gun inside.
Subsequently, the lifeless bodies were taken to a property six kilometers from where the murder occurred and were thrown into a well about three meters deep and covered with boards. It took authorities more than two hours to recover the bodies. In addition to the three tourists, a fourth body was found, which had been in the place for longer.
For this murder, three people have been arrested for their probable participation in the events; one of them had the cell phone of one of the victims in her possession. To date, the authorities continue investigating to find all those responsible for the terrible murder.
