
Rihanna is now a big part of Barbados’ history. The signer and businesswoman was declared a national hero of the country as part of the celebration of its transition into an independent republic.
“May you continue to shine like a diamond,” the country’s prime minister, Mia Mottley, said at an investiture ceremony. “She commands the imagination of the world through the pursuit of excellence with her creativity, her discipline, and above all else, her extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth”, said.
Rihanna, who was appointed an official ambassador for culture and youth in 2018, has always been proud and works to help her community.
She grew in Bridgetown, Barbados’ capital, and is one of the country’s most recognized personalities. She even has a Rihanna Day, announced in 2008 and celebrated each 21 February.
Rihanna, 33, has a successful business career with her Fenty brand focused not only on makeup and beauty products but as well a lingerie line. She is also a talented singer with 8 studio records and has participated in several films.
Forbes magazine estimates that her total value is around 1.7 bn, and most of its value comes from Fenty Beauty that partners with fashion group LVMH.
