Whenever Meghan Markle makes the news, her father appears to comment and throw shade at her. This was no exception. Just a couple of days after Meghan’s appearance on the Ellen Show, Thomas Markle reappeared to talk ill about his daughter and criticize her performance on the show. The man, who never even got the chance to get close to the Royal Family, is now saying they must be embarrassed by Meghan’s behavior on the show.
“It’s no way to behave. The whole thing was kind of embarrassing. It was certainly embarrassing for the royal family, it’s embarrassing for her as well. I suspect it embarrassed everyone in the UK, too.”
The bit he’s referring to is the funny skit Meghan and Ellen did in which the Duchess was told by the host to act in certain ways in front of three street vendors. Although it’s true that we’ve never seen any royal doing that sort of thing in public nor on television, it’s also true that Meghan and Harry are very cautious of their moves and they’re eager to present themselves in a more human and approachable way. Now, the question is, for how long is this man going to live from her daughter’s fame?
Let’s go back through memory lane. Just a couple of weeks before Meghan and Harry’s wedding, Thomas was uninvited mainly because he started bashing and discussing private issues in public. Since then, it seems he’s been eager to take advantage of her daughter’s position and has been constantly selling stories to the press or commenting on every step Meghan and Harry take.
Among the other things Thomas Markle said about Meghan’s interview with Ellen is that she should be stripped out of the Duchess title since “she’s putting herself out there as a duchess but I’ve never seen a duchess behave this way, doing stupid stunts.”
Later on, he said he was disappointed she didn’t mention him nor the fact that he allegedly got her an interview with the director of General Hospital. But what was he expecting? He’s been trashing her daughter constantly on the media knowing perfectly the terrible relationship royals have with the British tabloids and the particular issues Meghan and Harry have had with them, and now he wants her to praise him in public?
It’s been years since Meghan had the last contact with her estranged father even when she’s been living closer to him for the past year. Meghan and Harry’s PR haven’t commented on these new declarations by Thomas Markle and we bet they won’t do it. It’s not worth it.
