We all know that axolotls are representative of Mexican culture and more importantly, that they are a species that is in danger of extinction and that there are currently special programs to protect them, however, in Japan it seems that they care little. Some images have gone viral on social networks after it was revealed that a Japanese restaurant allegedly offers fried axolotls on its menu, yes, just like you read it, fried axolotls! The communicator Nelson Valdez shared on his X account, formerly Twitter, some photographs showing these fried animals, served with salad.

😱An exotic food restaurant in Yokohama #Japan serves fried axolotls as part of its menu
These images correspond to a restaurant called Noge Chinyuja and are located in Yokohama, Japan, where they not only offer fried axolotls as a novelty but also other exotic foods such as shark liver, brown bear meat, crocodile, camel, and Other animals. Apparently, on the restaurant’s networks it is indicated that they have their axolotl farm, in addition to that if you want to taste this exotic dish, you must reserve a month in advance, because only then will it be available.
Images of Fried Axolotls Outrage Online
After the publication, the comments were of total disapproval and highlighted their concern when seeing those images that are supposedly sold as food in Japan, because as we indicated, this species is in danger of extinction in Mexico.
“No, everything except the little axolotls!”
“They do not eat each other because God is great”
“They just need to do cannibalism to finish grinding it, and we are harmed by the pandemics that arise there”
“If it is a species in danger of extinction, the corresponding organizations should take action on the matter”
“We eat cows, the Indians must be equally or even more outraged,” were some of the reactions of Internet users.
The Noge Chinjuya restaurant has reviews on the internet that highlight that its menu usually changes according to the season, with prices that average 116.15 dollars, or about 17,000 yen.
“You can eat edible axolotls! Starting in 2023, the only place in Japan where eating edible axolotls will be rare in pet stores! *A super limited item that can only be ordered by those who reserve the limited monthly bottle!” reads their social networks.

It should be noted that the restaurant’s account deleted the original publication where the controversial dish was offered. However, in his profile photograph, a pair of presumably fried axolotls appear. The restaurant only has a presence on social networks because it does not have a website where you can check its prices and verify that it offers the menu that has caused so much controversy on social networks. What do you think?
