Jennifer Lopez is reportedly being considered to perform at next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, and it sounds like she couldn’t be more excited about it. And it’s not only possible that she’ll get the coveted spot—it all looks as if it’s actually happening.
A long time coming
J.Lo had expressed interest in leading the popular show before, and now she’s rumored to be “at the top of the NFL’s list,” according to Entertainment Tonight. “Jennifer and the NFL have been in talks for a while, but there are many factors that go into the deal before it’s official,” a source told them. “Jennifer has been saying for a while she wants to perform at the halftime show and it looks like her dream may come true.”
She’s so aligned with the NFL, in fact, that she posted a video on Instagram promoting the league’s new season at the beginning of this week. “Football is finally back, and this season is special,” she tells the audience. “One hundred years of the game we all love, filled with images to remember forever. And now it’s time for the next story to be written. The 100th chapter.”
Up to others
But whether J.Lo performs or not is ultimately in the hands of fellow musician Jay-Z, who is now directly managing the NFL’s live music entertainment strategies. One of the key responsibilities of his new job involves choosing next year’s performer, and who he’ll actually pick remains an open question.
“Yeah, we’ve thought about the Super Bowl, and it’s in Miami, it’s a big deal, but we’ll see,” Lopez told Entertainment Tonight. “They make their own decisions over there.”
And with everything perfectly aligned for her, there’s no reason why J.Lo wouldn’t be picked in the end. She’s a great performer, after all, and we can only hope we’ll be seeing her at the top of that stage come February.
