What song would Bonnie and Clyde listen to if they were alive today? Probably “Life,” by Katy Tiz and Ed Drewett, a pop song that captures what it’s like to be so into someone that you’d take them on a road trip and live an awesome adventure with them, but then you suddenly realize it was all just a beautiful illusion.
“The hook is something I feel we can all relate to. When you lose someone or something you love and you feel like you’re gonna have that feeling for life,” said Katy in an interview with Cultura Colectiva.
After four years without a release, Katy Tiz is back with this new single, created by her brother George and Ed Drewett, who has worked with One Direction and Britney Spears.
The official video shows Tiz from what seems to be the point of view of someone who is really close to her, like she just had her side of the story filmed on tape and shared it with her closest friends.
Katy considers this is a more honest song than the ones she has done in the past. “It shows the more stripped-back side. It’s funny because this song was actually written around the same time I wrote “Whistle” (my last single). I didn’t intentionally change musical direction, but I just fell in love with this sound.”
“Whistle” was a great hit in 2015, with more than 7.8 million views on YouTube, so her fans were eager to hear a new song from her, and it’s finally here. Even though the song seems cheerful, it was written during a dark period in the singer’s life, when her brother was there to support her and lift her up.
Katy’s talent isn’t limited to her own songs only, since she has also written for artists like Girls’ Generation and Cheryl Cole.
And now that there is a new release, what can we expect from Katy? “You can expect more music next year. I’m also going to be in the Steve Madden spring campaign, which is crazy because I’m only 5 ft 1.”
Katy confirmed that she will be back on the road, performing and meeting people, and we definitely can’t wait. “As always, I want to connect with people through music. I love hearing from people when they relate to what I’m doing.”
