Who hasn’t fantasized at least once about being in a band? In a band, your job is to play awesome music, look cool, and party hard. If you’re on tour, every day is a new city, new people, and new adventures. Even the worst, most unknown bands get to live the rock and roll lifestyle. But sometimes all the fun can become too much fun, and that’s where we get the craziest stories: overdoses, wild parties, and all the sex you could ever want. The stories you’ll find here are about some of the most memorable experiences on the road.
1. The story about Nikki Sixx and the Spaghetti Incident
As the story goes, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee made a bet to see who could go the longest without showering and still get laid. Two months into the bet, Nikki brought back a groupie, who started giving him a blow job. Midway through it, the groupie started choking and ended up throwing up on all over his junk. Now here’s where it gets really disgusting. Apparently, she’d had spaghetti earlier, so when she threw up, what came out was the half-digested spaghetti, which got stuck in Nikki’s pubic hair.

2. Led Zeppelin, a groupie, and a shark
Led Zeppelin was staying at a hotel on Puget Sound near Seattle. The hotel was right on the water, and guests could even fish out their window. One of the members of the band had fished that day and caught some mud sharks. That night, a groupie came back to the room with the band, and everyone started having sex. Apparently, the girl liked being tied during sex, so the band obliged and tied her to the bed. Later, someone brought a shark out and started using it to touch the girl and do “unspeakable” things to her.
3. Jimi Hendrix and the Plaster Casters
Jimi Hendrix was seriously hot and had an army of groupies that followed him everywhere. As the story goes, he was staying at a hotel in Chicago after one of his shows, when two girls approached him and introduced themselves. They were the Plaster Casters, a duo of groupies who made plaster casts of their favorite musicians’ penises. They explained to him that it wouldn’t hurt and that it would only take a few minutes. Obviously, Jimi was flattered and thought it would be a cool thing to do. When he asked how they would do it, they told him they would get him hard first, and then make the cast. Who would say no to that? He invited them up to his room, and well, you can imagine the rest.
4. The bus driver who got the shakes at 4 AM while driving
This story comes from a roadie who worked with metal and hip hop bands in the 1990s. He was near the front of the bus talking with one of the stage managers, when they caught a glimpse of the driver. Apparently, he was suffering the symptoms of withdrawal from alcohol: he was sweating and shaking, and looked terrible. When they approached him and asked him how he was doing, he said he couldn’t drive because there were spiders coming from the dash and crawling all over him. The roadie and the manager got scared (obviously) and took over the driving for the next few hours.
5. The unattractive groupies who got two band members to go back to their place and then left them stranded
This story comes from another roadie who was working with a rock band in the 2000s. The band had stopped somewhere in upstate New York, and two girls were desperately trying to hook up with someone. Anyone. They weren’t what you’d call beauties, but they kept trying and flirting with everyone until finally, two young guys from one of the bands caved. The girls told them they could go back to their place, and then take the train to their next show in the morning. In the morning, when the guys asked where the station was, the girls told them there was no train and that they had to get out of their house. The guys had no idea what to do and ended up taking a taxi to Connecticut, which set them back around 500 USD.

The rock and roll lifestyle is not for everyone, but for those who love music and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty, life on the road can be the adventure of a lifetime. I’d say they’d be great stories to tell your grandkids, but who knows if you’ll make it that far?
