If you thought the period for Easter miracles was already past due, think again because we’ve just experienced a unique resurrection. Remember when Taylor Swift said “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ’cause she’s dead!” Well, the old Taylor is back and giving us some really cool pop beats in her new hit “ME!”
In a very colorful and vibrant collaboration with Brendon Urie (lead singer of Panic at the Disco), Swift has given us a single that combines the best of both worlds: Panic at the Disco’s characteristic showmanship when performing and Swift’s old catchy lyrics. After a period of experimenting with different sounds like dance pop for a while, it seems that Taylor is ready to bring that bring pop back to the charts, and this song will definitely do the job.
Though Taylor has collaborated with big artists in the past, we have to say that Brendon Urie seems like the perfect match to create a massive pop hit that definitely takes us back to Taylor’s golden years. The video somehow takes some elements of Panic at the Disco’s famous “Nine in the Afternoon” video and takes them into a pastel wonderland fantasy we’d all wish we could immerse ourselves in.
On top of that, the video has some funny and cute moments that every Taylor Swift fan will definitely appreciate, like Taylor’s famous cats in the soap-opera-like introduction, or even both Taylor and Brendon speaking French in their overly dramatic scene. Overall, it’s a cool video that combines some kitschiness with sounds and lyrics we love listening to.
