Get ready because this might be the start of space tourism. Virgin Galactic has announced that it will start selling seats for you to travel to outer space and they will begin by the end of this year.
Starting February 16th, you can book your seat for the next spaceflight that will take place by the end of the year. But it won’t come cheap.
The first thousand available reservations will come at a price of $450,000 with an initial deposit of $150,000. This price includes not only your seat but also a membership to the community of Future Astronauts, designed to gather those initial space tourists to share their adventures and of course, training for both pre and post-flight.
It is planned that the flight will depart, when the time comes, from Virgin’s Spaceport America in New Mexico and the travelers will have to arrive days prior to the launch to prepare themselves for exiting the Earth. All, of course, in world-class accommodations. After all, you are paying almost half a million dollars.
Each flight will be a 90 minute round trip and once the spacecraft reaches space, travelers will have a zero-gravity experience and, of course, take pictures of the Earth below from the spaceship’s 17 windows.
It is unclear how many guests will fit in each flight, but it sounds like a very exclusive and one-of-kind experience.
