Besides organizing and making the Thanksgiving dinner, we also have to think what we’re going to wear. And honestly, the key is looking cool, while being comfortable.
Do you remember that Friends episode where Joey is certain he can eat an entire turkey by himself, but eventually has to put on Phoebe’s maternity pants to be more comfortable and be able to keep eating? For me, that’s the ultimate definition of being comfortable on Thanksgiving, and ever since I saw that iconic episode I’ve put extra effort in my outfits to make them as comfortable as possible.
Of course, this is an important event of the year, and you should make an extra effort to look flawless. I mean, Thanksgiving is one of those days when people take photos as if their lives depended on it, and you want to make sure you look chic and cool. With that in mind, if you don’t want to lose on comfort, but you still want to look amazing, here are some cool and stylish ideas to shine at your Thanksgiving celebration.
Dress and Thights
This is probably the easiest outfit to pull off when you want to look cute and stylish, while being comfortable. You can go for a loose shape or a skater dress for even more comfort and pair it with tights, some cute boots, and you’ll be ready to go. You can also play with other dress shapes you feel more comfortable with.
Big, loose, chunky sweaters are some of the trendiest and most popular pieces of the season, and they’re perfect for basically every occasion. You can go minimalist and wear a long one as a dress, or combine it with your favorite accessories and make it the statement piece of your look. It’s definitely a really cozy and warm choice for a cool and comfortable outfit.
Skirts are my ultimate go-to for parties because they’re so versatile and chic. You can literally go for whatever style you prefer to give an elegant vibe to your look. If you’re wearing a short one, you can always match it with tights or long stockings for cold weather. Pair them with a sweater or a long-sleeved shirt, and you’ll be ready to go.
Comfort isn’t only about the fit, it’s also a matter of weather, and (depending on where you are) Thanksgiving is always a bit chilly. Coats are a must for the season, not only to protect yourself from the cold, but also because they can be a really cool garment that brings your entire look together. Play with colors and fabrics to make your look more interesting. Also, bear in mind that you’ll probably take it off when you’re inside, so you should make sure that your outfit as a whole is on point.
Cool Checkered Prints
Checkered prints have always given me fall and winter vibes, and they can be a really cute feature of your look. These days, you can find literally anything with this print on it, but if you really want to keep yourself cozy and warm, I’d look for fabrics like flannel.
Statement Maxi Scarf
For the past couple of years, huge maxi scarves have become the ultimate fashion accessory of the season. The best part about them is that they’re really versatile to play with and allow you to create unique and amazing looks. Use them as regular scarves or mix them in with your outfit if you’re feeling a little more creative.
This is probably my favorite thing ever, and I wish it were trendy all year long. Capes can bring uniqueness and sophistication to any look, if you know how to style them. The type of fabric is also key to create really stylish and special looks. Find the most flattering structure and shape for you, and you’ll really be on the best-dressed list of your Thanksgiving party. Best part is, they’re also really comfortable to wear.
One of the golden rules of fashion is being comfortable with what you’re wearing, so that the pieces shine. Too many have this idea that looking fashionable and trendy means being uncomfortable, but that’s so, so wrong. The looks you’ve seen here are really stylish, without sacrificing comfort, and the best part is that you can actually bring them together without having to spend much since these are really basic pieces you probably have in your wardrobe already.
