There comes a time in our lives when we get this sudden rush to make a major style change. Whether it’s a breakup, closing cycles, opening new ones, or simply boredom, we all get that sudden urge sometimes to bleach our hair and dye it in all the crazy colors of the rainbow. Now, though no one can really stop us from dyeing our hair how we want, it’s also true that there are hues that suit us better and are more flattering to our skin tone. This isn’t really a matter of skin color, but about undertones. Take pink, for instance. It’s very trendy right now, but if your skin has a warm undertone, dyeing your hair pink will probably enhance it and make your face look even more pink.
Now, purple is one of the colors that go well with basically all skin tones. So why not trying purple hair? It’s a natural mix of red and blue, creating the perfect balance to neutralize your undertones and make your face glow. This one is also one of the most versatile colors in the sense that there are so many different tones of it that it makes it quite easy to find the perfect match for you. The only thing you have to bear in mind is the chromatic circle they teach you about in high school. If you have red undertones, the best way to balance it all is going for blue or green. Since purple doesn’t really have a greenish hue, a more bluish purple will do the trick. The idea is always going with the shade opposite to your natural undertone.
Since we still believe the myth that says we should focus on our skin color, it can be quite hard to figure out your actual undertone. I mean, there are fair people with blue, red, yellow, or even green undertones, and so it happens with all colors, so, instead of looking for, say, the perfect purple shade for dark skin, you should be looking for the one that balances your undertone.
One of the easiest ways to find your undertone is by looking at the color of the veins on your wrists. If they look blue, it means you have a cool undertone that could have blue or green tones. If they look green, that means you have a warm undertone, ranging from red to pink. Now, if they appear more purplish with hints of red, your undertone is in the yellow range. Finally, if you can barely see your veins or they look to you similar to your skin, it means you have a neutral undertone, and you can basically choose whatever hue you want to enhance your face. So here we have the whole range of purple hair tones so you can choose the one that suits you.
