Do you know how fashion icons earn that title? By being carefree, bold, and true to themselves, but also by embracing the values of their generation. And Ezra Miller is a great example of this.
Celebrities create their persona through the specific kinds of roles they play (if they’re actors) and a signature style. Today, fashion has become a key part in the whole celebrity culture, to the point that these stars are going to great lengths to wear unique and bold looks as they aspire to be added to the pages of fashion history. Some of them manage to do so, while many others are just meh. Still, despite the wide and extravagant parade of avant-garde outfits and styles we’ve seen, it seems like this generation hasn’t really found its celebrity fashion icon. The eighties had Madona and Michael Jackson, the nineties had Jennifer Aniston with her Rachel looks and Michael Jordan, and the 2000s were a strange decade with very bad taste in fashion. But who’s our icon in this decade?
You could name so many that have tried, but if you ask me, Ezra Miller is truly an icon in the making. Miller is famous for his roles in We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, for being the Flash in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and his huge role in J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Though he hasn’t reached the status of super celebrity, he definitely knows how to build himself under the banner of “be yourself.” This young actor from New Jersey has given us the most innovative avant-garde looks in the past years, but bold and extravagant clothes, as we’ve seen, aren’t enough to earn someone the title of icon. What makes Ezra Miller a real icon of our days is the fact that his style represents the values and concerns of our generation. He goes against the traditional standards of beauty and gender and encourages gender-fluid fashion by experimenting and breaking the rules of etiquette at events, and by showing us that fashion should be just a canvas for us to express who we are. If you don’t believe me, take a look at these really cool outfits and get inspired to show your real you.
