You are going out. What do you think about first?
a) I’m going to kill it on the dance floor
b) I really need a couple of drinks
c) Weekend, finally!
d) What am I going to wear?
e) All of the above.
If you’re like me, it’s probably e) all of the above. I love partying, I really, do. Although sometimes, no matter how random the event is, even if it’s just grabbing a beer somewhere with friends, I spend some time thinking about what am I going to wear. It’s not that I’m super shallow and only think about that. I guess for me it’s a combination of my addiction to buying clothes that are not very appropriate for work, my eagerness to wear them at least once, and having friends who love taking pictures and uploading them regardless of how I look. Yes, I refuse to have any other picture of me having some drinks whilst wearing pants that look like pajama bottoms.
Okay, jokes aside, I do like planning and thinking what to wear when I’m going out. My party ritual is scouting Pinterest for outfit inspiration. But something that frustrates me is that generally they’re matched with beautiful heels that pull the outfit together. My frustration comes from the fact that I’m utterly unable to wear heels. I’ve tried it so many times and I always gloriously fail. If I were to give you a visual reference, I look like a newborn deer learning how to walk. In my case, I’m just incapable of wearing them. But there are many women who just don’t like heels. Besides, if you’re going to a party, the most important thing is to be comfortable. There’s nothing that can ruin an outfit more than looking uncomfortable, and for that reason, I bring you five types of shoes you can combine with your favorite looks without having to sacrifice your comfort.
Always trusty flat shoes
Well, the title is self-explanatory. Flats nowadays give us so many shapes and styles that actually resemble some of the trendiest heels out there. So, if you want to add some of that vibe, try flats with a pointy tip if you want to convey an elegant essence to your outfit.
Super comfortable loafers
Oh, there’s nothing I love more than wearing loafers when I’m going to be standing up for a long time. The evolution of shoes has been so fast in recent times that you can get almost any type of shoe with almost any type of fabric or design. Combine suede with jeans, metallic shoes with skirts and dresses, or even in an all black outfit to make your loafers pop up.
The hipster vibe of Oxford shoes
Oxfords became fashionable a couple of years ago, but they are having a very important comeback in fashion. The nice thing is that they’re no longer only made with neutral dark colors; now you can get them with glitter, embroidery, and colorful combinations. These will definitely give you many options to play with.
Cool casual sneakers
Well, we all know this year is all about combining sneakers (especially white) with any style you can think of. Just as fish in the sea, there are as many types of sneaker styles, shapes, and colors. Honestly, there’s no way to fail with this trend. Just give it a try and play with colors and textures.
Groovy chunky platforms
Okay, in theory, these are not flat shoes, but to be honest, these are the ones I have been able to wear without wanting to cut my feet out. These are not only very comfortable but also give you the height you seek with high heels. Also, these come in so different styles, like sandals, sneakers, boots, and oxfords.
Sometimes we put a lot of thought in the outfit and think about shoes as mere accessories. However, the rapid evolution and the appearance of so many styles and shapes prove that shoes can actually be the protagonists of our outfits.
