Kanye West announced he will be running for president as a Republican in 2024, but not before changing his name to "Christian Genius Billionaire." And no, we're not kidding.
Just when we thought this world couldn't get any weirder, Kanye West has gone and reaffirm his intention to run for president in 2024—and there are some conservatives that are actually applauding the decision.
What he said
During a surprise appearance at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival, West dropped the confirmation that his plans to run are pretty much alive. The rapper also talked about a myriad of other topics, ranging from fashion to, well, mostly more fashion.
More specifically, West elaborated on his intention to bring "jobs back to America" as an entrepreneur. He already owns a shoe brand, Yeezy, which he boasted would have all its manufacturing done in the U.S.
“When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk,” he declared.
He also talked about how he plans to move the industry more towards sustainability than ever before, from farming processes to dyeing. "Our color is a big signature of the brand, but also dyeing is one of the main things that's impacting the planet and the fashion industry, so just being responsible from A to Z," West specified.
A new name
Oh, and just in case that wasn't enough, the rapper also said he might change his name before he "walks" for office. “When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is,” he said. “It will be on the license plate.”
And though West's announcement to run for president was initially met with laughter from the audience, already some conservatives are excited about everything West had to say. Fox & Friends, for example, has expressed its full support for the singer's candidacy. “His new record, it is unbelievable. It’s great. The messages are beautiful," said Ainsley Earhardt during the show. "He’s a strong Christian. … He’d get the support of the black community. When our current president announced that he was running, a lot of people laughed too.”
Yep, that's the world we're living in.
