What Is Coronavirus And How To Prevent It

The Chinese coronavirus has now affected more than 125,000 people all over the Asian continent, Australia, North America, France, and Germany.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has just declared a global health emergency over coronavirus. The Chinese coronavirus, which originated in the city of Wuhan in China and started spreading in December 2019, has now affected more than 125,000 people all over the Asian continent, Australia, North America, France, and Germany. The virus has also claimed the lives of more than 4,600 people.

It has now been confirmed that the virus spreads from human to human via "droplet transmission," meaning coughing or sneezing, as well as by direct contact. In response, a specialized coronavirus hospital is supposed to be built by February 3rd, and cities across China are under preventive lockdown. EU nationals are being airlifted out of Wuhan, and all across the world, airports are enacting strict measures to detect any possible cases of infection.

Airports in the US began screening people traveling from Wuhan, China, starting last the weekend, as this was the place where the outbreak started. China has lock down three cities to stop the outbreak of the virus, placing more than 35 million people under travel restriction, and they have also canceled the Chinese New Year's celebrations in some cities.

What is coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are groups of virus that can cause a series of human illnesses, that range from the common flu to SARS. They can also cause illness in animals.

A coronavirus is a cousin of SARS, an illness that killed more than 800 people around the world eighteen years ago. The infectiousness of this virus is not as strong as SARS, but it is growing alarmingly in Asia.

How to prevent coronavirus?

There is no vaccine yet to prevent coronavirus, so the best way to prevent it is to stay away from those who are sick. Other recommendations to prevent the illness are washing your hands frequently with soap and water, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

If you sneeze or cough, cover your nose and mouth with the inner part of your arm, and try to disinfect all the objects you touch.

How does coronavirus spread?

This kind of virus starts in animals and then spreads to humans. It can spread by coughing, sneezing, or touching an infected person. Chinese officials confirmed that this type of coronavirus can spread from human to human, so they are continuously checking and monitoring all those who have been in touch with the infected ones, particularly the passengers of flights where the ill people have been traveling.

Where does coronavirus come from?

The outbreak started in Wuhan, China in December. It is believed that it started at a food market. It was decoded by Leo Poon, a scientist and virologist at the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong, according to CNN. It is believed that this virus started in an animal and then spread to humans. Thailand reported two cases, and Japan and Korea one each, but all of these were traveling from Wuhan, China.
