Gilbert Gottfried was the voice of the unforgettable Iago in the animated film Aladdin.
Legendary actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried died Tuesday at the age of 67, after losing a long battle with muscular dystrophy.
The news was released through a statement published on his social media account and signed by his family.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved, Gilbert Gottfried, after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and dad to his two children. Although today is a very sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as hard as you can in honor of Gilbert,” was the message from his family on Twitter.
One of his most memorable works was undoubtedly voicing the twisted-minded parrot, Lago, in the animated film Aladdin, which became one of Disney’s biggest hits.
In addition, within his dubbing career, Gilbert Gottfried was also a key player in projects such as Ninja Turtles (playing the character of Krang) and Cyberchase (as Digit LeBoid).
