Aren't you tired of spending so much time trying to make your eyebrows look perfect? Microblading claims to be the perfect semi-permanent method to achieve this without having to spend so much time every day to achieve it. Here are some facts you should know before getting it.
Over the last couple of years, eyebrows have become the most essential piece to round up our look. These days, having a thick brow is extremely fashionable, something that was a huge no-no not so long ago. There are so many products to achieve this look, like pencils, gels, even extensions. Microblading is the new trend that promises to give you the most perfect eyebrows ever. It's marketed as a semi-permanent solution to effortlessly (well, for you, not the technician) get the eyebrows you want without having to spent thousands of dollars on products as well as avoiding the tiring and annoying process of fixing them every day. So, here are some facts you should know before you get microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery.
It’s not like getting your brows tattooed
Many people believe that microblading is just a fancy name for tattooing your eyebrows and, while the process kind of follows the same logic, the equipment and technique is actually quite different. Technicians use a special pen that has a set of extremely thin blades that pierce the first layers of the skin to inject a special pigment. With this pigment, they make each stroke separately to give the brow a natural appearance.
It isn’t painful
Unlike tattoos, microblading isn’t painful. Before starting the process, a numbing cream is applied to the area, so that you don’t feel too much discomfort. Also, the blades are so tiny that you don't even feel some of the strokes. Of course, this depends a lot on the person and their pain tolerance, but it really doesn't hurt that much.
It takes about two hours to get it done
The process is very meticulous and will take some time. The appointment starts with a thorough analysis of your face to determine what’s the best eyebrow shape for you, so that it looks natural. Then, they put the special numbing cream and wait until it takes effect. Finally, it’s time for the actual process, which can take up to two hours. So, you must keep in mind that it's not just "I came across a microblading place and I have sometime to do it."
It takes some time for the skin to recover
Once you have your new brows, it’s important to know that the healing process can take between 25 to 30 days, during which you'll have to apply products to clean the area and prevent any infection. At the end of the day, just like with tattoos, we’re talking about a wound and you have to take care of it until it heals completely. Needless to say, you can’t wear makeup on the area during this time nor expose it to too much water. So, you should plan well, so that it doesn’t get in the middle of your vacations or any other important event.
Once it’s done, you won’t have to do much to your brows for about three years, which will save you tons of time and money. It’s a long-term investment that will pay off over time. So, basically, once the wounds are healed, you don’t really have to do anything anymore. You can go swimming or do whatever you want, and nothing will happen to them.
It lasts for about three years
Many people like saying that this is a permanent process, but it's not. After about three years, the skin will start absorbing the pigments. Once it disappears completely, you can do the process again. Although, seeing how fast the beauty industry is evolving, there will probably be another technique you can try by then, so it’s a good thing it’s not permanent.
You’ll have to get touch ups
As I mentioned before, the pigments start fading over time, but it’s also recommended to go back to your technician some weeks after the wound has healed to see how your body reacted to the pigments. The problem is that it’s possible that, due to your own body chemistry, sun exposure, and other environmental factors, the color of the pigments can change. So, it's not a written rule or anything, but you might need to get some touch ups.
Whenever new techniques and procedures appear, people just go crazy and want to follow the trend as fast as possible. Yet it’s important to know all the facts before jumping on the latest beauty craze, especially if it’s something that requires so much aftercare. Once you know all these things, it’s up to you to see if this procedure is the best for you and your routine.
