5 Ways To Know If Your Inner Bitchiness Is Awesome

Por: María Isabel Carrasco Cara Chards 25 de septiembre de 2017

I’m not a huge fan of the term "bitch", but sometimes it makes me smile when I see people using it as an insult when, in fact, they’re highlighting attitudes I always try to follow. Think about it. How many times have you heard people in certain jobs referring to their superior as a bitch just because they’re asking them to do something they don’t want to, or because they're pushing others to achieve things? This term is generally used towards women, and of course we’re going to focus on that. Why do people tend to feel uncomfortable whenever they interact with a strong woman? Besides strong, the right word would be ambitious. A trait that is usually seen as a virtue men, is seen as defect in women. Ambitious women are "bitches," and thus unlikeable. If someone's ever told you not to act in certain way because that would make you a total bitch, here are 5 reasons why you should ignore them and actually think of your bitchiness as an awesome feature.

1.You always speak your mind, no matter what others think

Being blunt is sometimes mistaken with talking before thinking or not having a filter when you speak. However, bluntness is one of the best traits you’ll find in a person. Who wants to be constantly lied to or given sugar-coated information? Well, perhaps there's a lot of people who want that. For me, honesty is always better than just being patronized. Bluntness in women is often seen as a defect because we’re supposed to be more tender or subtler, but that’s absolute BS.

2. You don’t seek anyone’s approval

From experience I can tell you that I've realized that the only person entitled to have an opinion about myself is me. That’s the key to finding happiness and succeeding in life. In order to be ambitious and achieve things for ourselves, we must think of what’s best for us, not if people will agree with our actions or approve them.

3. You won’t waste your time on nonsense

Sometimes life can be filled with trivialities, so it’s easy to get trapped in them without noticing it. Some people might think focusing on your goals, without caring about others' opinions, is selfish. Yet most of the time it's better to ignore them and make your well-being a priority instead of wasting your time on unimportant obstacles

4. You always stand for your beliefs

This is one of the attitudes people criticize the most. I don't even understand why there's people who think we're extreme and irrational when we stand for what we believe in. Just take a look at the hatred some show towards women who stand for their rights. Defending our opinion shouldn't be a synonym of bitchiness. But if it is, be happy and proud of being a bitch.

5. You know it’s better to be hated for who you are than liked for something you’re not

This might seem pretty straightforward. We’ve heard it so many times in so many different situations, but sometimes saying it is easier than really putting it in practice. Once we understand our personality and beliefs, it'll be easier to ignore others' expectations and focus on ourselves. As my grandfather used to say, if people near you don't like who you are, they're not worth keeping around.

Although I think these five points can be applied to anyone, regardless of their gender, I wonder how these simple and rational things are often seen as defects in women. The moment we stop qualifying people due to their gender, we’ll realize things like ambition are just a way to achieve happiness.
