Marvel fans are living after learning that Harry Styles is reportedly taking the MCU by storm as Thanos' cool and sexy brother Eros.
Harry Styles has proven to be a true artist in all the sense of the word. He isn't only a great musician and performer, but also a great actor as demonstrated in Dunkirk. Now, the superstar is reported to be joining the greatest movie franchise in history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as no other than Eros, the god of love and baby brother of the worst villain the Avengers have fought, Thanos.
News developed during the premiere of The Eternals, Marvel's new original story. Matt Donnelly, from Vanity, live-tweeted the news, announcing the big reveal. Another Vanity editor, Mark Malkin, also reported that Styles made his MCU debut in the post-credit scene making the audience "squeal."
Who is Eros?
We all might know him as the Greek god of love, and obviously, the Marvel comics take a little bit from the mythological character, but in this Universe, Eros is the youngest son of A'Lars and Sui-San, no others than the two Eternals who repopulated the planet Titan and fathered Thanos.
In the comics, Eros, who was originally named Eron, is often portrayed as a carefree entity, who is often going after 'women.' His character contrasts with that of his brother Thanos, who as we know, was sick with power and ambition.
Will it be only a cameo?
Although it's still a bit uncertain where the path Marvel executives are taking in this new phase of the Cinematic Universe, it's clear that they're being introducing new stories and characters separate from the original Avengers.
According to director Chloé Zhao, The Eternals will have a huge effect on the future of the MCU. So, this film could mimic the effect Guardians of the Galaxy had back then when they introduced us to whole different universes and beings that eventually led to Endgame. If this is the case, it's probable that such relevant characters as Eros, Thena (Thanos' cousin), and the rest of The Eternals, will have a bigger impact in upcoming movies.
For Harry Styles, we could guess there's more to come in the MCU, and that this scene was more of an introduction rather than a simple cameo. Either way, we can't wait to see him in full Marvel glam this November, 5 when The Eternals debut.
