Here are some great photos and really cool facts you didn’t know about the "Game of Thrones" star, Kit Harington.
For years, we’ve swooned over the brave Jon Snow, Lord Commander, King in the North, and now Aegon Targaryen. There's something about him that makes us lose our minds, and it goes beyond Kit Harington’s appearance. It's his enigmatic and subtly charismatic persona.
If you really want to call yourself a true Game of Thrones fan, here are some facts you should really know about the actor who plays one of the most important and iconic characters. Of course, we got you some really nice photos to keep swooning over the Stark bastard.
He was named after a Renaissance playwright.
His full name is Christopher ‘Kit’ Catesby Harrington. His mother, Deborah Jane Catesby, a playwright herself, named him after the famous Renaissance author Christopher ‘Kit’ Marlowe, Shakespeare’s contemporary. As a matter of fact, Kit himself likes writing poetry, so perhaps it’s one of those cases where you follow in your namesake's footsteps.
He’s of noble blood.
Harington comes from an old noble family that can be traced back to King Charles II himself. His father is Sir David Harington, 15th Baronet of Harington, and his elder brother John, is first in line to the title making him second to the title. Not only that, he’s related to John Harington, the nobleman who invented the flushable toilet for none other than Queen Elizabeth I.
He’s also related to the leader of the Gunpowder Plot.
Remember, remember the fifth of November? Well, Kit isn't related to Guy Fawkes, but to the guy who planned the murder of King James, grandfather of Charles II, who’s also related to Kit. Confusing right? Fun fact, Kit played no other than his ancestor, Robert Catesby in the BBC series Gunpowder (2017).
He's gotten plenty of recognition since his first job.
While he was still in drama school, he was cast for the play War Horse at the National Theatre. The play got a lot of attention, winning two Laurence Olivier Awards, the most prestigious award in theater in the UK. This gave him a lot of attention that ended up with him being invited to audition for Game of Thrones.
He’s also a writer and producer.
Though the camera truly loves him, one of the things he loves the most about television and films is writing and producing. So far, he’s written three TV shows and really wants to take a chance at producing once GoT ends. Perhaps he should produce something with him on it, so we don’t miss his sexy face.
