‘Friends: The Reunion” has finally been released and although it was absolutely perfect, Lady Gaga’s participation just made it legendary.
Oooh my Gooooood! Friends: The Reunion has really taken us on a trip down memory lane! For us -and our six VIP friends- going back to the sets, seeing some of the secondary cast back, remembering some iconic scenes, and even recreating them, has been truly an emotional road we didn’t want to come to an end.
The long-awaited reunion fulfilled every single expectation, making us feel the vibes of the show even when it wasn’t the continuation of the story we had been expecting for almost the past two decades. Their personalities, memories, and jokes really reminded us of that great chemistry we still love about the show, and that was priceless.
However, there’s no doubt that the absolute best part of the almost two-hour reunion was seeing Lisa Kudrow singing ‘Smelly Cat’ one more time. Not only that, the surprising appearance of the one and only Lady Gaga all dressed up in Phoebe’s quirky attire and hair (which, by the way, is so trendy nowadays) and joining her in the iconic song, really stole the entire show... Could it be MORE epic?
After Kudrow gave us a moving, and yet funny, interpretation of the classic tune, Gaga joined her on an epic duet. We’d already seen Kudrow jamming ‘Smelly Cat’ with an A-list musician before when she joined Taylor Swift on a show. Sorry, Tay-Tay, we love you, but this was just out of this world.
Making a nod to episode 17th of season two, “The One Where Eddie Moves In,” a choir enters the iconic café when this amazing duet is happening and starts singing the “commercialized” chorus Phoebe hated so much. Both Lisa and Gaga, playing along, react awkwardly to the tunes giving us a hilarious interaction.
Lisa Kudrow: “I still think it’s better when it’s just me.”
Lady Gaga: “It is”
LK: “Oh, you heard it!”
We already knew Lady Gaga was going to make an appearance on the Reunion, however, we never thought it was going to be this awesome. Honestly, we thought it would be like BTS’ and David Beckham’s participation, which was a small commentary on the show on a general basis. But this definitely gave us goosebumps.
To close the collaboration, Gaga, as sweet as ever, thanked Lisa for giving us a character that was different and always true to herself to which Lisa replied: “Thank you, and thanks for carrying it along.” Having both Lisa Kudrow and Lady Gaga was the perfect match we didn’t know we needed, and only because of that, we can say the Friends: The Reunion was just perfection.
