They hit you with a weird chain of events that leaves you thinking “WTF?” This confusing sensation your brain perceives whenever something “out of the ordinary” happens, is the psychological game directors want you to experience. Here I've compiled a list of movies that will take your brain to unexpected places.
In this movie, you forget who the bad guys are. The story follows a two brothers and their extremely religious dad. The dad believes he is the messenger of God and that he has been commanded to fight demons. While this is happening, an FBI agent is also looking for a serial killer known as "God's hand." You can start to see how this will end right? But you'll be shocked to find out who the real killer is.
Get Out (2017)
This is a horror film in which Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), am African American photographer, is convinced by his white girlfriend to visit her parents house in the woods. Chris quickly noticed something is not right with the few black folks living in that town, they seem to be possessed.
A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
If you don't mind reading a few subtitles, you will love this Korean film that honestly has more twists than any other movie seen before. Every time you think things will go by normal, something crazy and unexpectedly twisted happens. The story revolves around the life of two sisters with a family full of secrets and mysteries.
Three teenagers are captured by a man with multiple personalities. He can be gentle, friendly, and even polite during short periods of time. But then he can turn violent, aggressive, and psychotic without reason. Kevin, the kidnapper, has 23 personalities and his victims must find a way out before the predominant killer side of him takes over and murders them all. Unfortunately for them, they are being kept hostage inside an underground facility.
Asylum Seekers (2009)
Whenever you feel like you don't stand out, commit yourself into an asylum. At least that is the logic surrounding this film that starts creatively insane and ends unexpectedly. The movie tells the story about six social outcasts that have gotten bored or rejected by modern society an wish to be admitted into the asylum in order to spice up their lives. Inside the asylum, they find a world full of odd individuals, who they seem to adore. They are determine to move into the institution but there is only one problem, they only have room for one of them.
Shutter Island (2010)
In this film the viewer must make a decision: who is the crazy one? The main character is sent to investigate the activities of an mental illness facility located inside an island. Turns out that evidence points out at DiCaprio being the insane one and he has had imagined this “detective” scenario in his head the whole time … or has he?
The Skin I Live In (2011)
A Spanish psychological thriller about weirdness, science, odd outfits, and guns popping out of nowhere – literally even under the bed. A plastic surgeon is working on a new form of synthetic skin to help victims with severe burns. But his methods are kind of illegal. He captures servants, whom he uses as his rat labs, until one of them (a girl named Vera) has had enough.
Ex Machina (2015)
Programmer Caleb Smith’s dream comes true when he wins a trip to meet his idol Nathan Bateman. Bateman shows Smith the newest revolution in technology: artificial intelligence and robots that look very, very, human. But Smith falls in love with one of the robots, Ava. After finding out Bateman’s abusive techniques, he attempts to save the machines.
