HBO Max just released the first trailer for "The Witches," a new film based on Roald Dahl's popular children's book of the same name.
If trick-or-treating won't be the same this year, can we at least have something else to celebrate the Halloween season? Well, HBO Max just released the first trailer for The Witches, and it is everything we need to have a Happy Halloween.
The film features Anne Hathaway as the Grand High Witch, a role that was performed by Anjelica Houston in the original 1990 movie, which is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's popular children's book of the same name. The cast also includes Octavia Spencer and Stanley Tucci, and the voice of Chris Rock as the film's narrator.
The film follows the story of a young boy who accidentally meets a group of witches who hate children so much, that they are plotting to get rid of them all by turning them into mice.
And even though this new version doesn't look as dark as the first one from the 90s, it is poised to become a classic of this generation.
Last year, there were rumors that Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo del Toro would team up to produce this film, and they have now confirmed, with Robert Zemeckis serving as the actual director. Zemeckis has also directed other blockbusters, such as the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, among others.
The movie was planned to premiere on the big screen, but due to the pandemic, it will premiere on on HBO Max on October 22nd.
