Adele: "I'm not letting go of this one. This is my album. I want to share myself with everyone, but I don't think I'll ever let this one go."
To everyone who has felt and sung Adele's songs out loud, the long wait is almost over! After about six years of putting her musical releases on hold, the singer comes back with a whole new album that, according to her, is all about finding herself and being at ease with her life again.
Besides her undeniable talent, her songs are usually characterized for being highly emotional and capable of connecting with anyone listening to them. But now, the artist has admitted she's fully opened her heart about a very rough moment in her life that came to her right when she turned 30.
Back to the beginning
Everyone can recall how in love Adele was when she started dating Simon Konecki in 2011, when they had their first child in 2012 and when they married in 2018; but, like many love stories, the feeling that ties a couple together can always end when you least expect it. A couple of months later, in September 2019, the couple then announced their divorce.
As she has said in some interviews, the singer has always wanted a comforting and stable family, and even though she doesn't regret all those years next to her ex-husband, she definitely felt guilty at some point for not having a long lasting marriage.
Inevitably, all the emotions that came with the separation hit her hard at that point of her life and besides taking a moment to actually feel them, the only ways in which she could release everything was through a good workout and the creation of a new album.
The meaning behind 30
“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his 20s or 30s, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness,” Adele told Vogue.
Apart from the fact that all her albums are named after the age when she got inspired to write her songs, this last album has a lot more meaning behind it. It is not only a manifestation of her emotional evolution and strength but also serves as an open letter to her older son as to why things ended like they did.
All along with this album, a 33-year-old Adele doesn't sing about divorce and blaming her former husband, but instead, she highlights the importance of being kind to herself, takes responsibility for her decisions, remains open to change, and more importantly, prioritizes her happiness over any fears that may arise along her path.
