The '80s were a golden age for love songs, and these are the best to dedicate to the love of your life.
By Corina Mendoza
It was the last decade of the Cold War, though the American government was still keeping many things regarding the USSR under tight seal. AIDS was a new massive pandemic creating global chaos and killing by the thousands. The Berlin Wall was about to fall. Latin American military dictatorships were at a critical point, and the world economy was booming across the world as countries rallied after World War II.
In the middle of all these events and conflicts, artists tried to face uncertainty with hope, alarm with emotion, hate with love. Love songs played on every speaker the world over as a protest against the neglect of basic humanity during the turbulent decade of the '80s. Now, we look back at the most memorable tunes that came out of this time. Here are the best '80s love songs to dedicate to the love of your life.

Hold me close to your heart
However distant, don't keep us apart"

In time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you
And turned to hear you say
If only for today
I am unafraid"

Now that I've been lovin' you so long

And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door."

I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power"

I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you."

"But I know what I like
I know I like dancing with you
And I know what you like
I know you like dancing with me"
Today we face new crises, new challenges, and new tragedies. In all those difficult times when life seems too overwhelming, we can only say that love is a great place to find at least a bit of solace.
