BTS has broken another record. Their latest album, ‘Map of the Soul: Persona,' made history for most weeks on the Billboard 200's top ten.
The music industry has changed radically in the past few years, with genres that weren’t that mainstream before, reaching the highest spots on the charts. Not only are Latin rhythms making the world dance to their catchy, hot beats, but there are also bands like BTS, who came to break the mould of pop and conquer the hearts of millions with their image, their culture, and their upbeat sounds. Proof of that is the success their latest album, Map of the Soul: Persona, which just broke a Billboard chart record.
With the album's release on April 12th, the BTS craze has definitely reached new levels of fandom, getting the album to the Billboard top ten almost immediately. The impressive thing about this isn't only that they managed to reach the most desired list in the industry, but that they’ve managed to remain there for four weeks now. If you don’t think this is impressive, just remember that this isn’t only a great achievement for a foreign (or better said, a non-English-speaking band), but it actually broke the record of the album that’s been in the Billboard 200’s top ten charts the longest.
We all know that the K-pop phenomenon took the world by storm, but the success BTS has had is, without a doubt, something that no one saw coming, probably not even them or their team. The way they’ve played the game is admirable, and we can say for sure that their journey is not close to coming to an end.
By making some really interesting collaborations, while remaining true to their roots and their vision as a band, these guys are making a name for themselves as some of the most influential figures in the music industry. But most importantly, they’ve won a special place in the lives of so many. So, yes, they will probably keep breaking all sorts of records, but the most important thing about BTS is that they’re changing the rules of the game by opening doors for bands all over the world to reach this level of popularity.
