-

‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ – Rick Astley

"Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down

Never gonna run around and desert you

Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye

Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you".

-

‘Don’t You Want Me’ – The Human League

"Don't. Don't you want me?

You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me

Don't. Don't you want me?

You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me".

-

‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ – WHAM!

"Wake me up before you go go

Don't leave me hanging on like a yo yo

Wake me up before you go go

I don't want to miss it when you hit that high".

-

‘How Soon is Now?’ – The Smiths

"You shut your mouth

How can you say

I go about things the wrong way?

I am human and I need to be loved

Just like everybody else does".

-

‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ – Crowded House

"Hey now, hey now

Don't dream it's over

Hey now, hey now

When the world comes in

They come, they come

To build a wall between us

We know they won't win".

-

‘True’ – Spandau Ballet

"So true funny how it seems

Always in time, but never in line for dreams.

Head over heels when toe to toe.

This is the sound of my soul,

This is the sound".

-

‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’ – The Pretenders

"Don't get me wrong

If you say 'hello' and I take a ride

Upon a sea where the mystic moon

Is playing havoc with the tide

Don't get me wrong".

-

‘Take My Breath Away’ – Berlin

"Watching every motion in this foolish lover's game

Haunted by the notion somewhere there's a love in flames

Turning and returning to some secret place inside

Watching in slow motion as you turn my way and say".

-

‘Enola Gay’ – Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

"Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today

Aha this kiss you give, it's never ever gonna fade away".

-

‘Into the Groove’ – Madonna

"Get into the groove

Boy you've got to prove

Your love to me, yeah

Get up on your feet, yeah

Step to the beat

Boy what will it be".

-

‘Always Something There to Remind Me’ – Naked Eyes

"When shadows fall, I pass a small cafe where we would dance at night

And I can't help recalling how it felt to kiss and hold you tight

Oh, how can I forget you, girl, when there is

Always something there to remind me

Always something there to remind me".

-

‘500 Miles’ – The Proclaimers

"But I would walk five hundred miles

And I would walk five hundred more

Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles

To fall down at your door".

-

'The Promise' - When in Rome

"I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say

I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be

But if you wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me

I promise, I promise you I will".

-

‘Words’ – F. R. David

"Words don't come easy to me

How can I find a way to make you see I love you

Words don't come easy

It isn't easy words don't come easy".

-

‘With or Without You’ – U2

"See the stone set in your eyes

See the thorn twist in your side

I'll wait for you".

-

‘Dancing in the Dark’ – Bruce Springsteen

"You sit around getting older there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me

I'll shake this world off my shoulders come on baby the laughs on me

Stay on the streets of this town and they'll be carving you up alright

They say you got to stay hungry hey baby I'm just about starving tonight

I'm dying for some action I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write

This book

I need a love reaction come on baby give me just one look".

-

‘Wanna Be Starin’ Somethin’ – Michael Jackson

"I took my baby to the doctor

With a fever, but nothing he found

By the time this hit the street

They said she had a breakdown

Someone's always tryin' to start my baby cryin'

Talkin', squealin', lyin'

Sayin' you just wanna be startin' somethin'".

-

‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ – Tears for Fears

"There's a room where the light won't find you

Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down

When they do, I'll be right behind you

So glad we've almost made it

So sad they had to fade it

Everybody wants to rule the world".

-

'Slave to Love' - Bryan Ferry

"Tell her I'll be waiting

In the usual place

With the tired and weary

And there's no escape".

-

‘Wicked Game’ – Chris Isaak

"The world was on fire and no one could save me but you.

It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.

I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you.

And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you".

-

‘A Little Respect’ – Erasure

"I try to discover

A little something to make me sweeter

Oh, baby refrain from breaking my heart

I'm so in love with you

I'll be forever blue

That you give me no reason

Why you're making me work so hard".

-

‘Lady in Red’ – Chris DeBurgh

"The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek

There's nobody here, it's just you and me

It's where I want to be

But I hardly know this beauty by my side

I'll never forget the way you look tonight".

-

‘I Want to Break Free’ – Queen

"I want to break free

I want to break free

I want to break free from your lies

You're so self satisfied I don't need you

I've got to break free

God knows, God knows I want to break free".

-

‘Take on Me’ – a-ha

"So needless to say

I'm odds and ends

But I'm me stumbling away

Slowly learning that life is OK.

Say after me,

It's no better to be safe than sorry".

Estas y otras demuestran que el pop no es basura, que mucho de lo producido en el sector más comercial de la música hoy se ve como un logro que marcó los tiempos de la humanidad.
