Have you ever seen these tiny and adorable birds? They have become popular on social media thanks to their cute looks, and they’re known as “bearded reedlings.”

This tiny animal has something that makes it unique: it can open up to a perfect, 180 degree split.

Its body and feathers make it look round. Besides, they are small, measuring 16.5 centimeters, so they easily fit in your palm, although they have a long tail. Their unique looks make them easily recognizable, so it’s only a matter of looking for a small, fluffy, egg-shaped bird.

The males are known for their ginger brown color, and their blue-gray head; they also have black spots that look like a mustache, and go from the eyes to the throat. The females are similar, but much paler. Their beak is darker, and of course, they have no mustache.

This is not a migratory bird. You can see them year-round in Europe and Asia. But their numbers have gone down, and they are considered vulnerable.
