From the popular Super Mario to Pokémon, "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" features 71 characters from 32 different video games.
Super Mario, Pikachu, Pac-Man, Ryu and a Wii Fit yoga trainer walk into a bar... Well, not exactly a bar, but a video game that promises to be a party like no other: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The latest release from Nintendo gathers the stars of classic video games along with more recent ones, comprising 35 years of gaming history in just one title.
The Japanese company was founded in 1889, and it began by making playing cards. Then, in the 1970s it started developing video games. And now, it surprised fans across generations with the release of this battle game, as it features 71 characters that only in the craziest minds of geeks would come together. This is the sixth title from the Smash Bros. saga, which was first launched in 1999 for Nintendo 64.
So, in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate we might be able to see Pikachu from Pokémon fighting Donkey Kong, or Princess Peach from Super Mario beating Starfox, for instance. Sounds crazy, we know, but that's what you get when you mix all of these legends: Super Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Yoshi, Kirby, Starfox, Pokémon, Earthbound, F-Zero, Ice Climber, Fire Emblem, Game & Watch, Kid Icarus, Mario Ware, Metal Gear Solid, Sonic The Hedgehog, Pikmin, R.O.B, Animal Crossing, Megaman, Wii Fit, Punch Out, Pac-Man, Xenoblade Chronicles, Duck Hunt, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy VII, Bayonetta, Splatoon, and Castlevania.
The game has 103 stages in total: this is twice as much as in the previous title of Super Smash Bros. Stages can "morph" into another, either by choosing it or selecting it randomly. This release includes more than 900 songs and the possibility to have not just two, but up to eight players at the same time.
From Castlevania, the vampire hunters Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont are joining the party. With their axes, crosses, and holy water they are two of the most powerful characters to win any battle. The stage where they fight is the Dracula castle, and along with them come more than 34 songs, made popular from Castlevania.
King K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country is another new character that joins the gang. As Masahiro Sakurai, director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, said, these characters were added due to popular demand. Nice touch from Nintendo to listen to their fans' requests!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available on December 7, 2018 for Nintendo Switch, so start thinking about your Christmas wishlist.
