10 Places You Can Go This Summer If You Hate The Heat

3 de agosto de 2018

If you hate sweating in the sun, you should put these cool and refreshing destinations on your bucket list.

Oh, summer! That lovely time of the year when you can go to the beach and just relax under the hot sun. Don’t you just love it? You’re lying on a towel, the rays of the sun hitting your skin, while each and every one of your pores starts sweating. All of a sudden, you grab your cold drink to refresh yourself a bit and all the ice has melted already and those tiny freezing drops from the glass playfully reach your bare body. You try to get up, but you miscalculated the area of the towel and now your wet hand has sand all over it, and you just end up spreading it all over your body because it sticks on your sweaty skin... Ok, I’m gonna stop, that’s actually everything I hate about the summer, specifically the heat. I mean, the beach is nice; you definitely have a fun time there, but the sweat and the heat just make me feel so uncomfortable. For that reason, when my family gets a chance to go out on vacation I always propose a cold place just to forget about all those inconveniences. So, if you’re like me, you’ll probably love these ten destinations.

Vancouver, Canada

Oh Canada, the Great White North full of breathtaking landscapes that even in the summer provide you with cool weather go run away from the heat. It’s actually during this time of the year when Vancouver has the perfect weather, not extremely cold that you have to wear tons of layers to keep you warm, but not that hot that you almost have to go outside naked. Besides that, the city has lots of cultural and entertainment offers for you to make your trip an unforgettable experience. You can go to any of their museums, or if you like outdoor activities, spend one day at their amazing pools filled with glacier water.

Reykjavík, Iceland

If you’ve been dreaming of going on a European vacation, but the idea of the hot cement of Rome or Paris burning your feet draws you back, you can always go North to one of the most mesmerizing spots on the planet. In the summer, the sun is up for most of the day, but the weather is cool, which makes it easier to really enjoy all Reykjavík has to offer. If you’re looking for a place with great historical importance and amazing landscapes this is it. With the biggest museum focused on the history of ancient Vikings, and amazing natural wonders like waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, and geysers, your 'gram will be full of amazing pics of this epic adventure.

Cannon Beach, Oregon

You don’t have to go that far to escape the extreme heat. If you love the ocean and walking by the beach, but you’re more of a sweats, jeans, and boots person, you can always visit Cannon Beach in Oregon. Besides the beautiful sights that are perfect for hiking, the small town has many picturesque shops and art galleries where you can just relax with a cup of hot cocoa in your hands.

St. Petersburg, Russia

Russia is one of those places everyone has to see at least once in their lifetime. Not only is it enormous in size, but it’s also huge in terms of history, art, culture, and natural wonders. Being that big, it definitely offers all sorts of weather for every taste, but if you’re looking for a place that has it all, the great city of St. Petersburg is your spot. Why not check out the second largest museum in the world in the morning, visit the iconic Winter Palace in the evening, and then experience their famous nightlife?

Punta Tombo, Argentina

If what really calls you is the amazing wildlife the world has to offer, you really have to visit Patagonia at least once in your life. Not only will it be winter over there by this time, you’ll be literally hanging out with some of the most amazing creatures in the world, like penguins, sea lions, and many other species. Not only will you be admiring the amazing species and landscapes of the area, you’ll be able to get in touch with a land rich in traditions and history.

Spitsbergen, Norway

If you like the idea of getting to see amazing creatures, you might also like this option, though it's literally at the other end of the world. Spitsbergen is located in the high Arctic, and like in Iceland, just the experience of spending time at a place where sun governs can be life-changing. Besides that, if you're lucky, the area is known to be great for spotting majestic polar bears in their habitat plus some walruses, and even magnificent whales. Moreover, you can also go for many of the outdoor activities in the region like kayaking or hiking.

Garzón, Uruguay

If you’re not that much of an adventurer, perhaps I can interest you in a calm wine tasting in the Uruguayan countryside. Not only is Bodega Garzón one of the most famous wineries in the country, but it also offers amazing sights and even hot-air-balloon rides. Definitely the perfect spot for a romantic getaway.

Inverness, Scotland

Inverness might be one of the most beautiful towns I’ve ever seen in my life. Located in Northern Scotland, this is a great place for everyone: you can take a lovely walk along the River Ness and contemplate the huge Inverness Castle, check out at the shops and streets, or even go for a greater adventure with Loch Ness just a bus away. Though the weather isn’t that cold during the summer, it isn’t hot either, making it the perfect time of the year to actually take a ship on the Loch.

When we think about the summer, we automatically picture the beach and the sun, but as you can see, there are tons and tons of other options you can explore without having to do the same thing year after year. I'd seriously rather save some money and go to one of these places than go to the same beach one more time. What about you?
