Halle Bailey’s version of Ariel is back as The Little Mermaid but with a smaller version of the character we love so much. Disney announced the premiere of a new animated series based on the live-action that was released last May 25 and was loved, but also very criticized by fans.
What Is the Animated Series of The Little Mermaid About?
The new project will be called The Adventures of Little Ariel, and according to the company, it will take us into new experiences of Ariel as a child. Of course, for each of them, she will be accompanied by those characters that we love like Triton, Ursula, Sebastian, and Flounder. “(The plot) will follow a young Ariel and feature fan-favorite characters, including King Triton, Ursula, Sebastian, and Flounder, as well as exciting new additions.”
The goal of this project, noted Alyssa Sapire, senior vice president of development, series, and strategy for Disney Junior, is to cater to a younger audience, who also can identify with them in addition to learning. “While developing Disney Junior’s Ariel, we knew we wanted to create an atmosphere that was vibrant and magical and showcased the imagination of our young Ariel, who, like our preschool audience watching at home, is as big as the sea,” explained Alyssa during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

People’s Favorite Version of Flounder Returns and Other Details
Something that made fans very excited is that the original design of Flounder that we love will return in The Adventures of Little Ariel. Let’s remember that this character generated great controversy by being ‘without a joke’ in the live-action, knowing that something that characterizes him in the movies is his cute little face. Unlike other versions, Ariel’s mermaid tail will have an extra element, as it will change color and light up depending on her emotions.
When and Where Will The Adventures of Little Ariel Premieres?
This program dedicated especially to the youngest members of the household will arrive on Disney Junior in 2024 and is expected to be available soon after on the Disney+ platform as well. There is no specific date yet, but we will surely know more details soon.
“Full of charm, big ideas and a powerful voice, Disney Junior’s Ariel is coming into her own, learning to discover and appreciate the world around her and use her voice to inspire others,” reads the official synopsis. We still don’t know much about this new animated series of The Little Mermaid, but we are already waiting with great excitement on the day of its premiere because there will never be enough of Ariel…
