Audrey Hepburn's glamour rules you can still apply to your daily looks

Although many fashion rules are no longer applicable to this day, Audrey Hepburn’s style was so simple, chic, and sophisticated, that we can still see them in today’s definition of glamour and style. So, either if you look up to her as an inspiration, or you just want some tips on how to look elegant and trendy, here are some of her timeless glamour rules that you could start putting into practice.

Clothes have no gender

We know it now and she definitely knew it back then. Audrey wasn’t afraid to experiment with all types of clothes including menswear. It wasn’t rare to see her rocking iconic menswear clothes, from suits or tuxedos to their plain shirts, while still bringing up her characteristic powerfully feminine style.

Play with your shape

If there is something that characterizes her looks, it is how much she played and experimented with her body shape. The actress loved to use belts to cinch up her waist, wear horizontal-striped patterns on her tops and even style her shirts with high collars to accentuate or compliment her proportions in a way that made her always look sleek, tall, and with a beautiful figure.

Black never gets old

A great advocate for black monochromatic outfits as a symbol of elegance and proof that you can never go wrong with this hue. Going for an all-black look is probably the easiest way to pull off any outfit without sacrificing sophistication. What’s best, black is a very easy color to find in our closets no matter the decade we are living in.

Red is powerful

From her iconic red dress in Funny Face to her signature red lip, Audrey Hepburn is proof of how this bold color can be the perfect ally when it comes to putting together a powerful look. So, maybe it’s time to take a break from nudes everything and venture ourselves back to the classic true red that always comes in handy when you want to make a statement.

The handy dandy sunglasses

Who doesn’t feel 10 times more confident with a good pair of sunglasses? They have always been the perfect accessory to level up any outfit, and Audrey made them such a staple in her looks. She usually wore a big pair that would hide a great part of her face, and even though those ones are slowly coming back on trend, there are still so many more styles to choose from that work just as great in boosting your confidence and look from 1 to a 100.

Clean minimal makeup

Hepburn was all about embracing her own beauty, and we will rarely see photos or videos of her wearing heavy makeup. The only part of her face that she did accentuate were her eyes with a remarkable eyeliner (although with a small wing on the outer corner) and long, fluffy lashes, something that up to this day, we are still looking for in our daily makeup looks.

Audrey Hepburn’s sense of style was definitely one the classiest we’ve ever seen. Her signature looks like the Breakfast at Tiffany’s glamour, and her polished, casual, everyday outfits have marked an era in fashion and beauty history, proving that no matter what you want to wear, you can always look absolutely fabulous if you find the perfect way to style all those pieces.
