Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream 7 after she spoke out in favor of Palestine through her social networks. However, the Mexican actress did not want to keep quiet and decided to talk about her departure from the film.

The actress ensured her followers that despite the reprisals she has experienced, she will not stop advocating for the human rights of people and, at the same time, condemned any sign of Islamophobiaanti-Semitismhatred, and prejudice against any group of people.

Through a statement, the artist explained that as a Latina and proud Mexican, she has the responsibility to try to reach the greatest number of people to raise awareness about issues that matter, lending her voice to those who need it. “Every person on this earth, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status, deserves equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom,” she wrote.

She added: “I believe that a group of people is NOT leadership and that no governing body should be above criticism.” The Mexican highlighted that she prays daily for the violence and deaths to end, but as long as that happens she will continue to raise her voice for peace, security, human rights, and freedom. “Silence is not an option for me,” Melissa ended forcefully.

What Did Melissa Barrera Say About Palestine?

Melissa Barrera made it clear that her support in the conflict between Israel and Hamas is on the side of the people of Palestine because, for decades, the world has tried to make them invisible.

“Why does the Western media only show the other side? Why they do that, I’ll let you figure it out for yourself. Usually, the social media algorithm captures the essence. Well… My discovery page on IG will ONLY show me videos that show and talk about the Israeli side. The censorship is very real. Palestinians know it, they know the world has been trying to make them invisible,” he wrote through his Instagram stories.

Barrera also assured that coming from a colonized country, such as Mexico, she is confident that Palestine will be free because although “They tried to bury us, they don’t know that we are seeds”.
